Hey! Welcome to my blog. Who am I? It depends on what time of day it is.
If I’m at my day gig, I’m a public school educator. My current incarnation in that role is “School Psychologist.” What I do all day at a middle school, is basically help everyone (kids, teachers, parents, etc.) keep their heads screwed on straight so the kids can get educated and make it to high school. I got a PhD in this field, because I thought it was the right thing to do.
When I’m not at my day gig, I’m doing any number of things. In no particular order those activities include:
I design lighting for plays, musicals, dance concerts, festivals and cowboy poets. Production companies have paid me (in real money) for my lighting designs since 1979. I earned a Master of Fine Arts in theatre design at the University of Utah. I still like painting with light and do a design a few times a year.
I write stuff. This blog. I just finished my first screenplay. I will be writing more of those. I plan to write more than I’ve been writing. I intend to entertain with my writing. It’s been known to happen.
I’m learning how to produce movies. I’ve hooked up with a bunch of fledgling producers and we’re collaborating our efforts in a project called Project 23. We’re producing a movie in 2012, so hopefully you’ll get to watch it and you’ll love it! I also watch a lot of movies as well.
I’ve been taking pictures (or making them onstage) since I was a little kid, sitting on my roof, taking pictures of clouds with my Kodak Instamatic (yep, I’m a “Baby Boomer,” you got a problem with that?). I used to make pictures in a dark room and now I use my Macbook and my digital camera. I’m planning on getting much better at this in the next couple of years.
This includes being mom to my darling adult daughter, who is a professional actor. It also includes wrangling a pair of black cats and being married to my very handy husband. I thought I wanted to have a small business in Social Media promotions, but I got over that. I do other “lady” stuff, too, like buy groceries, try to lose weight, have cocktails with my pals.
I hope you sign up for my blog updates and become a great fan of my posts. But, I must give you fair warning. Even though I’m a fairly respectable person, I’ve been known to swear like a sailor, and my posts may fall into the “PG13” or even “R” rated area. So if you’re easily offended, you may want to mosey along.
